Cold feet shouldn't be anyone's reality.

For our neighbors sleeping outside, a clean, dry pair of socks is dignity, health, and a little bit of warmth. We get socks to the people in Charlotte who need them most.

Our Mission

Warmth, dignity, and care — sock by sock.

Two mismatched socks hugging, reunited at last

Thousands of our Charlotte neighbors spend the night outside. The single most-requested item at shelters and outreach teams is also the one almost no one donates: a clean, dry pair of socks.

Family-founded and youth-run, Sock Solemates exists to close that gap — quietly, consistently, and with respect. Every pair we deliver is a small message: you are seen, and you matter.

Warmth
Dry feet on the coldest nights.
Health
Fewer infections, fewer ER visits.
Dignity
A gift, never a handout.
The Math

Your laundry basket has more power than you think.

Open the drawer of any household. There they are — the lonely ones. What if every orphaned sock in Charlotte got a second chance, and a neighbor got a warmer night?

Step 1
60
orphaned socks

An average household of four loses this many socks to the dryer, the drawer, and the great unknown — every single year.

Step 2
30
matched pairs

Rescued, washed, and re-paired. What was waste becomes a warm, wearable gift.

Step 3
30
warmer neighbors

That's thirty people sleeping outside with one more pair of cared-for feet. From one family. In one year.

Now multiply

If just 1,000 Charlotte households joined in, that's 30,000 warm pairs — and 30,000 reasons a neighbor wakes up a little better cared for.

Why Socks

A small thing that changes everything.

For someone sleeping outside, dry socks aren't a comfort — they're protection from frostbite, blisters, and infection that can put a person in the ER. Or worse.

Help warm Charlotte

Three ways to keep a neighbor warm.

01Give socks

New, warm pairs go straight to a neighbor.

Drop them at a partner location or ship them in. Crew socks, wool blends, and thermals are most needed.

02Give $

Why do we throw socks away when people don't have any?

The Story

Family-founded. Youth-run. Neighbor-focused.

That question turned into a laundry basket on a Plaza Midwood porch. Then a block party. Today, Sock Solemates is a family-founded, youth-run 501(c)(3) serving shelters and outreach teams across the Queen City.

Every pair that goes out carries a handwritten note. Every note starts the same way: "Hey, neighbor — we kept this warm for you."
